I just read The Ultimate Sales Machine by Chet Holmes (thanks Colleen for sending me a copy!). Great book covering sales, management and personal productivity. One basic premise in the book is that success comes from discipline and determination. Working hard and smart. Early in the book, Holmes comments about the link between hard work and training:
“becoming a master of karate was not about learning 4,000 moves, but about doing just a handful of moves 4,000 times.
This repetition trained my body to run like a machine – and that’s what constant focused repetition will do for your business. No matter what comes up, your responses are automatic because you’ve prepared for and developed the skills to deal with every possible scenario.”“Look at any area of your life where you have a great achievement – you know you worked at it….Any area of achievement in your life required you to stick to the basics until you became great.”
Pretty hard to argue with that. I highly recommend the book.
